Joan Lussier

July 22, 1945 — February 26, 2018

SWANTON - Joan V. Lussier, age 72, passed away Monday evening, February 26, 2018 at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.

She was born in St. Albans on July 22, 1945 the daughter of the late Archie & Dorcas (Duprey) Corbiere.

Joan is survived by her sons Steve Lussier; Grandchildren Kaitlyn and Logan of Morrisonville, NY along with son Chris Lussier and wife Janet Lussier; grandchildren Zackery and Donagha Dee of Hollis, NH.

Her passion for life is carried on by her Twin brother John Corbiere, sister Ariel Berger, and sister-in-law Lorraine Corbiere of Swanton, VT. She is preceded and will be greeted by her beloved husband Richard Lussier, brother Merrill Corbiere, brother-in-law Harold Berger and her parents Dorcus and Archie Corbiere. She will also be missed by 60+ nieces, nephews, and numerous friends that became extended family members.

Joan was born on July 22nd, 1945 in Saint Albans VT and graduated from Saint Annes Academy and proceeded to achieve a degree from the Sheldon Academy of Beauty Culture as a certified Coiffure. She married Richard Lussier, her high school sweetheart, who was a jack of all trades and built them a home where she lived happily until her passing. Joan worked at Pearls beauty Shoppe before creating Joan Lussiers Coiffeurs. She ran her own business, mentored beauticians and fostering friendships while offering commentary on life.

She raised her 2 sons while running her business teaching them the value of truth, hard work, and the value of family. Her children remember her as a loving mother who was resilient, driven and matured into an amazing Granny. Her humor and kindness touched everyone she met leaving a lasting impact inspiring her grandchildren to never give up and understand what being meant. She remains a role model for family unity, festive meals and holiday celebration.

Joan was an accomplished hair stylist with a talent of offering comfort and humor to customers which was a skill she shared with her twin brother who was also a barber. Joan loved her house, and spent time decorating it with flowers, milk glass collectables, dried flowers and thing that made people comfortable. This included the community who were blessed by her generousness. She offered food and laughter to Pastors of the Church of the Nativity whom she sometimes shared a meal at her home which she loved so much and the blessing of plenty comfort food. She loved her sons and was proud of their accomplishments, which was only surpassed by her care for being a part of her grandchildrens lives. She was an active member of the Church of the Nativity and always felt a closeness to God and to Saint Joseph particularly.

Visiting hours will be held Friday evening from 5-8 PM at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton. A funeral is scheduled for Saturday March 3 at 11:00 AM at The Church of the Nativity, with a reception to follow at the My T Fine Restaurant, 159 US Route 7 Swanton, Vermont. Fr. Zuccaro will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Joan\u0027s passion for life and laughter. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the UVM Dialysis Unit - St. Albans, 8 Crest Road, St. Albans, VT 05478 who care, jokes and friendship extended her enjoyment of life over the last 3 years.
