RICHFORD - Alan Eugene Rivers, age 56, passed away Tuesday morning December 26, 2006 at his home with his loving family at his side.
\tHe was born January 11, 1950 in St. Albans, VT the son of Alden & Margaret (Dudley) Rivers.
\tAlan attended Berkshire Elementary School and was a 1968 graduate of Richford High School. Following high school he entered the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was employed at the RockTenn Paper Mill in Sheldon Springs for the past 33 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 12 of Richford, the V.F.W. Chapter 11319 of Richford, a Life Member of the N.R.A. and a member of the Missisquoi Sportsman Club.
Alan enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He had a great love for his family and friends, especially J.B. whom he thought of as a brother.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Boyce) Rivers of Richford, they were married on March 20, 1971; his children and their families, Chadwick Rivers his wife Julie and their children Jacey & Alan all of Franklin, and Kristie Rivers her Fianc Matthew Irons and their children, Katelyn & Jaden all of Richford; his parents, Alden & Margaret Rivers of Richford; his brother and his wife, Stephen Rivers and Mary Ann Westover of Fairfax; his sister and her companion, Julie Rivers and Harry Mashtare of Swanton. He was predeceased by a brother, Orin S. Rivers.
Funeral services will be held Friday December 29, 2006 at 11:00 at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls with Pastor Lyle Willey officiating. Interment will be held Saturday December 30, 2006 at 2:00 PM at the Richford Center Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Spears Funeral Home in Enosburg Falls.
