Alfred G. Real

ST. ALBANS - Alfred G. Real, age 83, passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.

He was born in Highgate Center on July 12, 1936 the son of the late Raymond and Rosina (Lapan) Real.

Alfred attended school in Highgate Center then joined the U.S. Army National Guard and was a member in the 131st Engineers Company serving during the Korean War. He married Joyce (Lumbra) Real on July 14, 1956 and the two raised their family in Milton. Alfred worked maintenance for several years for the Vermont Furniture Company and retired from Green Mountain Power after 13 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working, playing the guitar, but most of all, Alfred enjoyed working on cars. Alfred was also a proud member of the American Legion Post 1 in St. Albans. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who will be missed greatly.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Joyce Real of St. Albans; sons, Steven Real and his wife Kristie of Georgia, and Jeff Real and his wife Kim of St. Albans; daughter, Lisa Real of Cape Coral, FL; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and brother, Ronny Real and his wife Robin of FL. Besides his parents, Alfred was predeceased by his daughter Theresa White.

A memorial service will be held Monday, January 27, 2020 at 5:00 PM at Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton, VT 05488.

Visitation will be held immediately following Alfreds service on Monday from 5:30-7:00 PM at Kidder Memorial Home.
