HIGHGATE SPRINGS – Mr. Allen Edward Champagne, age 83, a lifelong resident of this community passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, May 19, 2021 at his home with his loving family by his side.
He was born at home in Highgate Springs on June 28, 1937, he was the son of the late Alice (Drew) Champagne.
On July 29, 2000 he married Sandra Duprey of Swanton.
Allen worked for many years at Harris Graphics in Champlain, NY. After retiring Allen did many side jobs for which he is most known for meticulous landscaping. Allen enjoyed feeding the chipmunks, squirrels, birds and especially the neighborhood pets.
He is survived by his three children, Michael Champagne and his wife Angie of Alburgh, Carol Bosley of Swanton, and Doreen Williams of Burlington; grandchildren, Daniel Champagne, Michelle (Tyler) Tipper, Dustin Machia, Kayleigh Machia, Jeffrey Champagne, Shawn Thompson, Shari (Jason) Partlow, and Christopher (Brooke) Clodgo; several great grandchildren; wife, Sandra Champagne of St. Albans and her four daughters, Tina, Melody, Ruthie and Holly; and several nieces, nephews and special friends. Besides his mother, Allen was predeceased by his two brothers, Henry, and Carlton Champagne.
Allen’s family wishes to give special thanks to Bayada Hospice Team, Leslie Boyd, Max Crystal, and Mike Ellis who helped Mike and Angie bring Allen home to his residence in Highgate Springs to carry out his last couple of weeks of life, per his wishes.
At Allen’s request, there will be no public Life Celebration events. Private Life Celebration events will be held at the convenience of the family.
