Ann M. Roberts

October 15, 1957 — October 13, 2021

ST. ALBANS– Ann M. Roberts, age 63, passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 with her dedicated family by her side at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.

She was born in Burlington, VT on October 15, 1957, to Mary Josephine (Cox) Roberts and the late Richard George Roberts Sr.

Annie grew up in Burlington, graduated from CVU in 1976, and attended Champlain College and the California Institute of Technology where she earned a degree in mechanical engineering. She had a brilliant mechanical, artistic mind and an unmatched ability to take almost anything and redesign it to be more effective. Annie worked as a mechanical engineer for General Electric where some of her designs are still in use. Annie decided to enroll at Trinity College to further her education in business and was able to follow her passion for art by opening her own small business- Annie’s Fragile Ass Glass. She was a gifted stain glass curator, woodworker, and proficient in calligraphy.

Annie never let her physical struggles keep her down. She was resilient, tenacious, and had a remarkable sense of humor. She had a flair for teaching her children and grandchildren life lessons that will be passed on for generations along with her favorite quote, “Pay attention, it’s the only thing that’s free”. Affectionately known as “Nana” she cherished her grandchildren and looked forward to spending time with them.

She is survived by her children, Kara Zimmerman and her fiancé Jon Whiter, Tawnya Barnett, Tory Zimmerman, and Shannon Carol; grandchildren, Jaymz Richard, Kaleb Jordan, Kamron Matthew, Cadence Grace, Tyah Marie, Cori Parker, Abigail Adah-Lynn, Michael Randy Jr., Logan True, and Maliiyh London; mother, Mary Roberts; siblings, Katherine Brodeur and her husband Donald, Linda Johnson and her husband Gary, Richard Jr. and his wife Terri, Mark Roberts and his wife Cherie, and John Roberts and his wife Brenda; and 12 nieces and nephews. Annie was predeceased by her beloved father, Richard George Roberts Sr. on April 18, 1997, and granddaughter Hope Mayo.
