SWANTON - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Wolcott, a beloved wife, mother, friend, and dedicated professional, who left this world peacefully due to natural causes on November 7, 2025, at the age of 66. Barbara was born on August 7, 1959, in Swanton, Vermont, where she lived her entire life and nurtured her roots.
A proud graduate of Missisquoi Valley Union High School in 1977, Barbara went on to achieve a Bachelor of Science in Medical Radiation from the University of Vermont. Her passion for her field led her to a fulfilling career as a radiologist, where she devoted 25 years to Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans, and an additional 15 years at the Concentra Walk-in Clinic in South Burlington. Barbara's compassion and dedication to her patients profoundly impacted many lives.
In a beautiful testament to love and companionship, Barbara shared over 50 wonderful years with her high school sweetheart, Dana Wolcott. Their marriage of 32 years was filled with joy, laughter, and countless adventures. Together, they reveled in the simple pleasures of life-traveling to stunning beaches, marveling at picturesque lighthouses, and spending cherished summers camping at Burton's Island with their and sons and grandsons. After their recent retirement, Barbara and Dana enjoyed traveling and assembling puzzles together.
Barbara was an avid reader, often finishing entire books in a single day, and her inquisitive mind allowed her to excel at answering Jeopardy questions from across the room. She possessed a talent for photography, capturing breathtaking moments-a sunset over Lake Champlain, the vibrant hues of nature, and the love shared with family through her lens. Her garden flourished under her care, and her fondness for hummingbirds and cardinals brought beauty and joy to her days.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Dana Wolcott; their children, Justin Wolcott and his wife Jennifer, and Bryant Wolcott and his partner Sara Walton; grandchildren, Chloe Mattison, Elric Wolcott and Collin Wolcott; sisters, Tracy Honsinger and her husband Jim Honsinger, and Linda Winchell and her partner; nieces & nephew, Lindsey LaCroix, Elizabeth Dufresne, Chasidy Benjamin, Leandra Curtis, and Corey Wolcott; her uncle, Larry Cote and his wife Rebecca; cousins, Sandra Cote, and Julie Cote; mother-in-law, Marion Wolcott; siblings-in-law, David Wolcott and his wife Denneen, Melinda Wolcott, and Lori Pion; and countless friends and family who will miss her radiant spirit and unwavering kindness. Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Lucius & Joyce (Salls) Lemnah; father-in-law, David Wolcott; and brother-in-law, Dennis Wolcott.
Friends & family are invited to Barbara's life celebration on Friday, November 21, 2025 to include visitation from 1-2:00 PM followed with a memorial service at 2:00 PM at the Goss Life Celebration Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton, VT 05488. Interment will be held at a later date in Riverside Cemetery in Swanton.
