ENOSBURGH - Barney C. Malone Jr., age 93, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2024 at the McClure-Miller Respite House in Colchester.
He was born in East Enosburgh on January 23, 1931 to the late Barney Sr. & Blanche (Longley) Malone.
Barney was brought up on the family farm in East Bakersfield. As a young man he participated in 4-H. He started his career as a service technician in refrigeration and appliances early in life. He spent 41 years as a technician, with 26 of those years with Sears in St. Albans. He retired in 1996 at the age of 65.
He was a member of the Vermont Gas & Steam Club, a lifetime member of the Green Mountain Draft Horse Club, and past director and vice chair of the Franklin County Field Days, and the Enosburgh Historical Society. He enjoyed rebuilding antique engines, deer hunting, fishing, photography, and flying airplanes.
He is survived by his children, Terry Malone and his wife Ruth of Bakersfield, Tim Malone and his partner Monica Darrah of Highgate Center, Susan St. Pierre and her husband Gary of Fairfield, and Kimberly Gervais and her husband Daniel of Enosburg; 11 Grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; his sister, Joyce Royea; sister-in-law, Beverly Poirier; and several nieces & nephews. In addition to his parents, Barney was predeceased by his wife, Juanita (Brooks) Malone; his grandson, Kam Malone; and brothers-in-law, Gerald "Gig" Royea, and Everett Poirier.
Friends & family are invited to Barney's life celebration to include a graveside memorial service on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Missisquoi Cemetery, Missisquoi Street, Enosburg Falls, VT.
