Bernard Trahan

HIGHGATE - Bernard Trahan, age 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on June 6th, 2024, at the Northwestern Medical Center.

He was born on October 17, 1934, in Colchester, VT to the late Leo & Cecilia (Cooper) Trahan.

Bernard was a proud and dedicated member of the Vermont Army National Guard for 24 years and actively participated in the American Legion St. Albans Post #1. His commitment to serving his country and his community was unwavering.

Throughout his life, Bernard found joy in attending church services, spending time with his family, and sharing his passion for restoring antique tractors, woodworking, and engaging in outdoor activities like hunting and fishing. As a proud grandfather, Bernard adored every moment spent with his family, creating lasting memories that will be treasured forever.

Bernard is survived by his children, Jeff Trahan and his significant other Rachel Paquin, and Todd Trahan and his wife Trish; grandchildren, Katherine Trahan and her significant other Erik, Patricia Halbach and her husband Carl, and Kara Vlaci ; his great-grandson, Harrison Halbach, Alyssa Vlaci, Daisha Vlaci, and Elijah Vlaci; siblings, Solange Feldmann and her husband Paul, Anita Loveland and her husband Lanny, Oliva Trahan and his wife Delores, and Renee Cears and her husband Wayne; step-brother, Raymond Beaulieau and his wife Charlotte; step-sister, Aline Bushey and husband Phil; sister-in-law, Donna Beaulieu; and a very special niece, Jill Trahan; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Bernard was predeceased by the love of his life for nearly 60 years Arlene (Beyor) Trahan; and a step-brother, Jacques Beaulieu.

Friends and family are invited to Bernard's life celebration events to include a visitation on Thursday, June 13th, 2024, from 4-7:00 PM at the Goss Life Celebration Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton, VT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 14th, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Louis Catholic Church, Lamkin Street, Highgate, VT. Interment will follow at the St. Louis Cemetery.
