Bertha A. Lamore

BAKERSFIELD– Bertha A. Lamore, age 96, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at her home in Bakersfield.

She was born in Montgomery on May 23, 1924 to the late Hardy and Erma (Touchette) Lumbra.

Bertha grew up in Montgomery Center and graduated from Enosburg High School in 1943. She married Lionel Lamore on September 26, 1946 and the two made their home in Bakersfield where they raised five children. She worked at the Lamore IGA which became Bakersfield General Store for several years and was an active member of the St. George Catholic Church. Bertha was a talented crafter and enjoyed sewing, embroidering, and tole painting. She also loved traveling, gambling, window shopping with her girls, and family gatherings. Bertha will be remembered for her generous and kind heart.

She is survived by her children and their families: Larry Lamore and his wife Diane of Bakersfield and their children Teena Annie Muslu and her husband Muslu and their son Addison, James Curt Lamore and his wife Nichole and their daughters Lexia Lamore and Isis Woltz and her husband Augusta and their son Gunner and Adam Lamore; Diane Trombley and her husband Ted of Bakersfield and their children Christina Trombley-Hicks and her husband Kevin and their son Garrett Hicks, Emily Trombley-Machia and her husband Shaun Machia, Jennifer Trombley and her significant other Nick Rodehorst and their son Benjamin Rodehorst; Linda LaBelle and her husband Richard of Bakersfield and their children Shawn LaBelle and his wife Nicole and their children Quinn Lucille and Easton James, Justin LaBelle, Myra Marie Stanhope and her husband Christopher; Michael Lamore and his wife Barbara of Cambridge and their daughter Michelle Lamore and step-daughter Danielle Williams; and Elizabeth Boylan and her husband Robert of East Fairfield and their children Lacie Dirkson and her husband Dan and their children Dillon and Claire Dirkson, Lance Boylan and his wife Michelle Boylan; sister, Lorraine Austin of NY; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Bertha was predeceased by her husband Lionel Lamore on July 10, 1993; brothers, Arnold "Puffer" Lumbra and his wife Kathleen, Harlan "Cheeman" Lumbra and his wife Katherine, and Lynford Lumbra and his wife Johanna; and brother-in-law, Reginald Austin.

Bertha’s Life Celebration events will include visitation on April 6, 2021 from 4-7:00 PM at the Goss-Spears Life Celebration Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls, VT 05450 and a Mass of Christian Burial on April 7, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Church Road, Fairfield, VT. Interment will take place this spring in the St. Isidore Catholic Cemetery in Montgomery.
