Betsy M. Snider

MONTGOMERY CENTER – Betsy M. Snider, age 86, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at the Green Mountain Nursing & Rehab Center in Colchester.

She was born in St. Albans on August 12, 1934 and raised by her mother, Grace (Ling) Oakes and her uncle, Bill Ling.

Betsy was a life-long resident of Montgomery. She married Ernest R. Snider on May 9, 1953 and she was a devoted wife and mother of five children. She was very active in her community throughout her life. She worked as a cook for many years, and made excellent home cooked meals, donuts, cookies, and cakes. She was a member of St. Isidore’s Catholic Church, the Red Hat Society, and several other community groups. Betsy enjoyed bowling, playing Bingo, and playing cards. She also enjoyed spending time with family, especially at Lake Eden.

Betsy is survived by her children, Janet Snider and her husband Sim Bowling of Port Richey, FL, Ernest J. Snider and his wife Susan of Moriah, NY, Duane Snider and his significant other Shelly of New Port Richey, FL, Kenneth Snider and his wife Carol of Hampton, NH, and Matthew Snider of Montgomery Center; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many in-laws, and nieces & nephews from the Snider family. In addition to her parents, Betsy was predeceased by her husband, Ernest R. Snider; and her sister, Jane Oakes.

Friends and family are invited to Betsy’s Life Celebration to include a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at St. Isidore’s Catholic Church, Mountain Rd., Montgomery Center. Interment will follow in St. Isidore’s Cemetery.
