Beverly L. Cyr

August 15, 1937 — March 23, 2023

SWANTON- Beverly L. Cyr, 85, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at the Homestead in St. Albans.

Bev was born in Franklin, Vermont on August 15, 1937, to the late Earl and Catherine (Titemore) Lothian. On June 21, 1958, she married the love of her life, Robert Cyr, in Franklin. She graduated from Johnson State College in 1959 and began teaching that fall. Soon thereafter, they started their family. During their formative years, Bev stayed home with her girls and enjoyed sewing their clothes and costumes, as well as those for their Barbie dolls. She then worked at Kids Stuff in St. Albans until its closing. For many years, she was a familiar face at the Thrift Shop at Memorial United Methodist Church in Swanton and was meticulous about washing, mending, pricing and organizing in the shop to raise money for the church.

Bev and Bob enjoyed traveling the country, hitting all 50 states. They also visited every post office in Vermont as part of the 251 Club. Bev was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was kind and thoughtful and will be sorely missed and remembered by the many lives she touched.

Bev is survived by her three daughters, Kathy Holden (husband Chris) of Brandon, Tammy Cyr-Talbott (husband Michael) of Fairfax, VA, and Trudy Cyr (partner Glenn Lambert) of Williston; six grandchildren, Collin Chevalier, Corey Chevalier (wife Sonja), Hayley Talbott, Hannah Talbott, Alyssa Bachand, and Ashley Coutrayer (husband Jesse); three great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Chevalier, Taylor Chevalier, and Lincoln Coutrayer. She is also survived by her sister Sandra Benjamin, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Bev was predeceased by her husband Bob; brothers, Glendon, Guy, Lyle, Merriman, Stanley, Roger, Hugh, Arthur, Gary, Alton, and Loren; and sister, Geraldine Richard.

A private graveside service will be held later this spring at Jeffersonville Cemetery at the convenience of the family for both Bev and Bob.

For those who wish, contributions in Bev's memory may be made to Memorial United Methodist Church, 23 Grand Avenue, Swanton, VT 05488 and/or the Franklin Animal Rescue, 30 Sunset Meadows, St Albans, VT 05478.
