MILTON - Bonnie G. Hovermann, age 65, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 1st, 2024 at the McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester.
Bonnie was born in Montreal, Quebec on December 25, 1958 to Walter and Dorothy Wells.
When she was 5 years old, she told her grandfather that she was going to marry the paperboy who lived directly across the street. On May 19, 1979, Bonnie had her wish, and indeed married Nord, the "paperboy across the street"! They spent their first years together living and working in Montreal. In 1995, Nord and Bonnie moved to Vermont when Nord's job transferred him there, and the two made their home in Milton with their beloved dogs. Bonnie had an incredible love for dogs, and over the years many more would become a part of their family. They vacationed at a cabin in Northern Quebec every year, and enjoyed fishing, letting the dogs run free, bird watching, and simply relaxing in the great outdoors.
Bonnie has always credited Nord for supporting her in her journey to becoming a Pastor. His incredible kindness, along with her deep spirituality, were instrumental in guiding her to God and to becoming the beloved Pastor she is today.
Bonnie is survived by her mother, Dorothy Wells (née Enz); nieces, Natalie Gruenefeld (David St-Pierre), and Kim Gruenefeld (Kim Price); grand-niece, Sienna St-Pierre; cousins, Vicky and Witold Merkis, and Alexandra and John Montgomery; very special friends, Judy and Ed Sorrell; and her canine companions, Allie and Faith. She is predeceased by her father, Walter.
Bonnie is especially blessed to have the support and love of the wonderful parishioners of her four churches - Swanton Memorial UMC, Highgate Center UMC, Rice Hill UMC, and Sheldon UMC.
Family and friends are invited to Bonnie's life celebration events that will include visitation on Friday April 12th, 2024 from 5-7:00 PM at the Goss Life Celebration Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton, VT 05488.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 13th, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Highgate Center United Methodist Church, 3723 Vermont Route 78, Highgate, VT 05459.
