NORTH HERO - Carole Sis A. Durham, age 83, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2019 in North Hero.
She was born in Columbus, OH on December 28, 1935, the daughter of the late George and Margaret (Kelly) Story.
Sis grew up in Bexley, Ohio, and attended school at Bexley Academy and the University of Vermont. She married John Carlton Durham on June 28, 1958 and the two raised their family in North Hero. Sis worked for many years as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in North Hero and Burlington, she also owned and operated the Harbor Store in North Hero, as well as various administrative positions. She enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino, coloring, watching westerns, taking trips to Maine with Carlton, but most of all Sis loved spending time with her children and family, they were her world. She will be remembered for her great personality and her endless infectious smile.
She is survived by her son, Herbie Durham and his wife Joanne of Alburgh; daughters, Debbie Allen and her husband Reg, and Patty Durham all of North Hero; grandchildren, Travis Jarvis and his wife Cathy, Reg Allen III and his wife Sarah, and Molly Finnigan and her fianc Nick LaGasse; great-grandchildren, Addison Paquette, Weston Allen, and Thiago DaSilva; brothers-in-law, Robert Baumuller, and Robert Durham and his wife Marla; sisters-in-law, Delcie Durham, Marcia Story, Patricia Story, Phyllis Lund, and Marilyn Mayo; 6 nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews; special friends, Ron and Jo-Ann Tier, Joe and Bev Poquette, Ellen Norris, and Mike and Cecile Gove. Besides her parents, Sis was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Carlton Durham; granddaughter, Erin Allen; Special Guest Craig Rousselle; and her brothers, George and David Story.
Sis family would like to thank Dr. Mark Pitcher and the staff at the Community Health Center in South Hero and UVM Home Health Care for the wonderful care she received.
A Graveside service will be held on Friday, May 31, 2019 at 11:00AM at the Jerusalem Cemetery, Lakeview Drive, North Hero, VT.
