Dee Greenia

December 8, 1972 — August 21, 2025

FRANKLIN – Dee Greenia, age 52, passed away on Thursday, August 21st, 2025, at the Northwestern Medical Center, in St. Albans, VT, surrounded by her family.

Dee was born on December 8, 1972, in St. Albans to Dennis and Diane (Gover) Sartwell. She was a 1990 graduate of MVUHS. She met her husband, Matt shortly after graduation. After high school she pursued her career in childcare where she worked for her aunt, Diana Sartwell at the Highgate Methodist Church. She also ran an in-home daycare in Swanton and eventually in Franklin, where she became a staple to many families in Franklin County. Dee had a huge heart for children and taking care of them came naturally to her. All children loved “DeeDee” very much. She had the privilege of caring for her nieces and nephew and treated them as her own.

In her early years, her favorite activities were shopping, specifically at the mall and going to the movie theater especially the drive-ins. Dee’s favorite hobby was creating art of all kinds. She loved to crochet everything from sweaters to stuffed animals. She also enjoyed participating in family game nights. If you couldn’t find DeeDee, you would know to look in the kitchen, as her passion for cooking and baking took 1st place to all hobbies. To know DeeDee was to love her. She had a kind, loving soul who made anyone feel at home in her company.

Dee is survived by her husband, Matthew Greenia; children, Joshua Greenia (Makayla Gilbert), Paige Greenia (Curtis Hartman); parents, Diane and Dennis Sartwell; siblings, Donna Benoit (Jamie), Debbie Berger (Robert); many aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her 2 beloved dogs, Sheldon and Penny. Dee was predeceased by her Mother-in-law Shirley Greenia and her Father-in-law Louis “Buckle” Greenia.

Friends and family will be invited to Dee’s celebration of life on Sunday, August 31st at 5:00PM at Dick Wright Pub, 5204 Main Street, Franklin.

The family would like to thank the outstanding nursing staff at NMC, Emily and Maria from Bayada.
