Mrs. Denise Emilienne Luneau (Trahan), 77, of Swanton, Vermont passed in her home among family on December 2nd, after a courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).
Born to Gabriel and Yvonne Trahan at the family’s Golden Crust Bakery in Swanton on April 12, 1948, and graduated from Saint Anne’s High School. She lived in Franklin County for the remainder of her life and loved hosting family and friends at her camp on Isle La Motte.
She was a business owner, including a family farm in Highgate, Andy’s Quick Stop in Sheldon Springs, and The Pines Restaurant in Highgate. She was well-known within the community for her tourtière (meat pie) and pet de soeur; countless people enjoyed her hospitality and storytelling. She was a formidable Pichenotte player and was known to take on all comers.
She was predeceased by her husband, Andre, of 24 years, as well as her siblings Donald, Richard, Jacquelyn, Clement, and Maurice (P2) - whose life was prolonged by a generous donation of a kidney by Denise. She was also predeceased by her in-laws Aline Perry, Roland and Patrick Luneau.
She is survived by her partner Richard Wyman and his children; her siblings and their spouses, Patricia Reid and her friend Monique LaPerle, Carmen and John Crepeau, Steven and Lise Trahan and Gabriel and Carmen Trahan; her sons and their wives; Anthony and Lisa, Timothy and Heidi, Andrew and Lacey, and Michael and Esther; and her grandchildren Isabel, Grayson, Wade, Samuel, Avery, Aliza, Adrian and Amaya.
Friends and family are invited to calling hours on Tuesday, December 9th, 2025 from 4-7:00PM at the Goss Life Celebration Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton, VT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 10th, 2025, at 11:00AM at the Church of the Nativity BVM, 65 Canada Street, Swanton, VT. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
