Doris Louise Clayton

ISLE LA MOTTE - Doris Clayton, age 79, passed away after a long battle with pancreatic cancer, on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at her home in Isle La Motte, surrounded by her family.

She was born April 28, 1947, in Plattsburg NY, to the late Stephen & Eleanor (LaBombard) Clayton.

Doris was a graduate of Walpole High School in Massachusetts and attended St. Michael's School in Hudson.

She was employed for many years by Verizon then known as "Ma Bell". She worked with her sister-in-law Nancy Clayton, at H&R Block and for the last 24 years at Saint Anne's Shrine gift shop with her dear friend Colleen Pare.

Doris loved arts and crafts, needlepoint, gardening, cooking and canning. She enjoyed playing cards, going to bingo with Colleen and often talked about riding the CIDER bus, enjoying time with friends.

She is survived by her siblings, Stephen Clayton, and his partner Barbara, William Clayton and his wife Lisa, and Barbara Smith and her husband Aubrey "AJ"; sister-in-law, Nancy Clayton; and many nieces & nephews.

In addition to her parents, Doris was predeceased by her sister, Marcia Barry, her brother John Clayton, and her longtime partner Jim Robertson.

Friends & family are invited to Doris' life celebration on Thursday August 20, 2026, at 1pm to include a Mass of Christian Burial at St Anne's Shrine Isle LaMotte.

Interment is private.
