ENOSBURGH CENTER - Dorothy "Liz" E. Panko, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 surrounded by her loving family at her home in Enosburgh.
She was born in Bakersfield on June 22, 1934 to the late Donald & Dorothy (Messier) McDermott.
Throughout her life, Liz found joy in the simple pleasures - from tending her vegetable and flower gardens to knitting hats for children in need. Her love for cooking and trying new recipes was surpassed only by the delight she took in sharing her creations with loved ones at big family dinners. She had a heart as generous as her spirit, always ensuring that nobody went hungry in her presence.
A social butterfly, Liz found solace in the company of friends and family, often hopping in the car for a visit, traveling the world with her cousin Jean to explore new destinations, or taking an adventure on a trip with Three Score and More. She had a fondness for retail therapy, be it in a store or while watching QVC from the comfort of her home. Liz was a devout catholic and member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Christian Mothers, and Holy Angels Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She had a passion for giving back which was demonstrated through her support for numerous charitable organizations.
She is survived by her son, Steven Panko of Enosburgh; daughter, Missy Panko and her significant other Scott Archer of Weirton, WV; grandchildren, Christopher Panko and his wife Kayla, Alicia Panko and her significant other Chris, Sarah Panko and her significant other Jordan, and Joseph Panko; great-grandchildren, Vanessa, Marissa, Dagan, Sullivan, Gwenyth, Kaylynn, Adrian, and Gavin; special extended family members, Tiffany Jones, Kye Giroux, and Marguerite Panko and her sons, David, Jesse, Nicholas and James; and several nieces & nephews. In addition to her parents, Liz was predeceased by her husband, Ronald Panko; and her grandson, Daniel Panko.
Friends & family are invited to Liz's life celebration to include a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, September 6, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church, Lake Street, St. Albans, VT. Interment will follow in Enosburgh Center Cemetery, Boston Post Road, Enosburgh Center, VT.
