October 9, 1932 — January 23, 2026

ENOSBURG FALLS - Douglas C. King, age 93, peacefully passed away on January 23rd, 2026, at the Brownway Residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on October 9th, 1932, in Fletcher VT, to the late Fred and Charolette (Cox) King.

Doug's journey through life was marked by resilience, love, and a passion for the land he tended as a devoted farmer in the agriculture industry with his late wife, Norma (Duffy) King. Doug and Norma were married for an incredible 70 years, where together they built a life filled with laughter, adventure, and unwavering support for one another. Doug poured his heart into his work, passionately tending to his farm in Vermont after honing his skills as a head herdsman in New Hampshire. He took great pride in showing cows, a true testament to his dedication to the agricultural life. Doug found joy in simple pleasures-sugaring with family, where he spent countless hours collecting sap buckets with his trusted work horses, which he took immense pride in. Doug also enjoyed hunting in the great outdoors and spending cherished summers at his camp on Lake Carmi with Norma and their children. Beyond the farm, he was a devoted father who raised three wonderful children alongside Norma, instilling in them the same work ethic and love for the that defined his own life.

After retiring, Doug and Norma spent 35 wonderful years basking in the warmth of Florida's sun. They explored the beauty of the country, from the majestic mountains out west to the serene coasts of Maine. Doug particularly cherished his fishing trips in Canada, where he made countless memories and shared laughter with friends and family.

Doug is survived by his daughters, Marjorie Hammond and her husband Donald, Sherry King and her life partner, Terry Lovelette; son, Randall King; grandsons, Michael Haggerty and Kyle Haggerty; many nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Johannas Waibel. In addition to his parents, Douglas was predeceased by his 10 siblings; Foster King, Dorothy Wagner, Neil King, Delmar King, Wendall King, Malcomb King, Audrey Towne, Beryl Tabor, Harlan King and Bernard King.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Northwest Medical Center for their compassionate care and the team at Brownway Residence for their wonderful source of support and comfort, and they are deeply appreciated for their kindness.
