Elizabeth "Liz" E. Blodgett

RICHFORD - Elizabeth Liz E. Blodgett, age 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 31, 2019 at her home in Richford, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Richford on July 24, 1936 to the late Carroll & Linnie (Donna) Mercy.

Liz grew up in Montgomery, VT and attended the little schoolhouse on 118 at the base of the Regan Road. She would tell stories of her father transporting her to and from school in the winter months in a horse drawn sleigh and covered her with a bear skin robe. She attended Enosburg Falls High School graduating in 1955 proud of the fact that she drove herself to and from school daily.

She married Orville Blodgett August 6, 1955, the love of her life. She was an outstanding mother to her children always supporting them in whatever undertakings they pursued and was always the first to comfort when times were hard. She continued this support into the lives of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She genuinely enjoyed lawn sales, flower gardening and long car rides. She was a devout catholic and loved her trips to St. Annes Shrine. She will be greatly missed but will be remembered for her positive outlook and always finding the silver lining in life. No matter what, she always wore a smile.

She is survived by her children, Deborah Willey and her husband, Roger of Lowell, Joanne Lanphear and her husband, Cedric of Montgomery, Jodie Gagne and her husband, Michael of Swanton, and James Blodgett of Richford; grandchildren and their families, Ben Willey and his wife, Keri and their children, Amos and Elijah of Lowell, Amanda Dezotelle and her husband, Andrew and their daughter, Addison of Eden, Katie Piper and her wife, Alexandria of VA, Michelle Gagne, and her fianc Colby Dupuis of St. Albans, Elisa Blodgett and her partner, Shane Martin of Richford, Emily Blodgett and her partner, Brandon Langdell and their son James of Enosburg, Ashley Blodgett of Burlington, Joshua Lanphear and his partner, Abby Armstrong and their daughter, Maisie, also Brenna Lanphear and her her fianc, Jared Cassidy, Gracie Lanphear and her partner, Landen Royea and a soon-to-be great great grandson, Levi Royea; siblings-in-law, Robert Blodgett of NY, Beulah Blodgett of SC, and Charlotte Mercy of Franklin; lifelong special friends, Beverly and Everett Poirier, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Liz was predeceased by her husband, Orville; brothers, Gordon, Harlan and John Mercy; and siblings-in-law, Harry Blodgett, Evelyn and Beverly Mercy.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 6, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls. Interment will follow in St. Isidores Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Thursday at Spears Funeral Home from 12:00 PM until the hour of the service.
