Elwin Sherrer

BURLINGTON - Elwin "Donut" D. Sherrer, age 71, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at his home in Burlington.


He was born on October 5, 1953 in St. Albans to the late Lloyd & Glenna (Fleury) Sherrer.


Elwin graduated from Richford High School and later attended Champlain College. His culinary journey spanned many years, during which he shared his gift as a talented chef at various restaurants in the Burlington area.


Beyond the kitchen, he found joy in life's simple pleasures. Fishing was a beloved pastime, along with playing cribbage and cards, 500 especially. His love of history lent him a unique perspective, and he often captivated friends and family with stories from the past.


Elwin is survived by his siblings, Brenda Marcoux and her partner Al Church of Berkshire, Sandra (Sherrer) Stratton and her husband Hiram of North Carolina, and Leonard Sherrer of Enosburg; and several nieces & nephews. Elwin was predeceased by his parents, Lloyd & Glenna Sherrer; his siblings, Nancy Sherrer, and Ricky Sherrer and his wife Carole; and his nephews, Alex Sherrer, and Brad Marcoux.


In keeping with Elwin's wishes, there will be no public services for him.
