RICHFORD - Erwin B. Fletcher, age 74, passed away Thursday afternoon April 19, 2007 at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington with his loving family at his side.
\tHe was born November 17, 1932 in Richford the son of the late Erwin J. & Glenna (Deuso) Fletcher.
\tErwin was a life long resident of Richford where he was employed at H.K. Webster / Blue Seal Feeds for 44 years and 9 months, retiring in 1997. He especially enjoyed the years that he drove truck delivering grain to the farms in New York, New Hampshire, and Vermont and the friendships that he made during that time. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran during the Korean War. He was also a member of the Vermont National Guard for many years being honorably discharged with the rank of Master Sergeant.
\tErwin was very active in the Richford community having served as Town Selectman, School Board Director, Planning Commission Member, Regional Planning Commission Member, and was a long time member of All Saints Catholic Church.
\tErwin was a member of many groups and associations including the following: American Legion Post # 42 of Enosburg, V.F.W. Post # 758 of St. Albans, Missisquoi Valley Sportsman Club, Vermont Federated Sportsman Club, National Rifle Association, Friends of Missisquoi National Wildlife Federation, and Ducks Unlimited.
\tErwin was an outdoor enthusiast and enjoyed hunting, fishing, sugaring, trap shooting, boating, old tractors, working in his woods, and camping with his family.
\tHe is survived by his wife of 54 years Katherine (Cutting) Fletcher of Richford. They were married February 14, 1953. Three daughters, Carol Fletcher of Richford, Colleen Stanfill and her husband Bill of Colorado Springs, CO, and Joanne Crawford and her husband Sam of Hinesburg, two sons, Alan Erwin Fletcher and his wife Susan, and Byron Fletcher and his wife Jane all of Richford, seven grandchildren, Katy Steurer; Joshua, Seth, Isaiah, and Alyssa Fletcher; Silas & ChandLee Alan Crawford, four brothers and their wives, Norman & Gwen Fletcher of Richford, Dale & Sandy Fletcher of Concord, Randy & Kim Fletcher of Fairfax and North Carolina, and Gary Fletcher of Fairfax, four sisters, Alice Workman of Grand Isle, Judy Williams of Essex, Diane Fletcher of St. Albans, and Debra MacAulay and her husband Denis of Naugatuck, CT, a sister-in-law, Shirley Fletcher of Richford, several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Richard Fletcher, three infant sisters, twins - Beth & Betty Fletcher, and Shirley Fletcher.
\tFuneral services will be held Monday April 23, 2007 at 11:00 AM at All Saints Catholic Church in Richford, with Rev. Frank Eksterowicz celebrating the Mass of Christian burial. Interment will follow in the Richford Center Cemetery Association.
\tVisiting hours will be held Sunday from 3-6 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
