SWANTON - Eugene M. "Dobie" Brace Sr., age 67, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026 surrounded by family and loved ones at his home in Swanton.
He was born in St. Albans on November 1, 1958 to the late Fred "Manny" & Edilene (Cook) Brace.
Dobie was a proud mechanic and dedicated many years to fixing cars. His love for automobiles extended beyond his work and he enjoyed going to car shows. Dobie was a family man at heart and he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, racing, wrestling, and country westerns. Dobie had a particular fondness for the classics like "Gunsmoke," "Bonanza," and "Zorro," often sharing these moments with family, creating bonds that will last a lifetime. He retired from Walmart, where he built many meaningful relationships and touched the lives of countless individuals.
He is survived by his children, Eugene "DJ" Brace Jr. and his partner Brian, and Allyson Hockhousen and her husband Chris; the mother of his children and former wife of 25 years, Wendy Brace; his best friend, CiCi; grandchildren, Landon, Jasmine, Cheyenne, Dakota, Abbie, Savannah, William, Owen, Hannah, Jaedyn, Christopher, Lily, and Stephen; great grandchildren, Braveyn, Enzeyen, Noah, Athena, Paisley, Kaydence, Quevien, and Jace; siblings, Freddy Brace and his wife Nancy, Jimmy Brace and his wife Tina, Janice Lotowitz and her husband Mike, and his baby brother Jim Jim Brace and his wife Lynn; and many nieces & nephews. In addition to his parents, Dobie was predeceased by his wife, Karen (Champagne) Brace; and his siblings, Charlie, Eunice, Ellen, and Hellen.
Dobie's family would like to thank the nurses from Miller 3 for the love and care they provided to him.
In keeping with Dobie's wishes, his family will hold a celebration of his life at a later date.
