SANFORD, FL - George M. Olio Sr. of Sanford, FL passed away peacefully at the age of 80, on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans, VT.

He was born in Burlington, VT on November 26, 1941 to the late Michael & Cecile (Lafley) Olio.

George grew up as the oldest of two children. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1959. He served in the US Navy from 1959-1961 and was honorably discharged.

George married his first wife and had 2 children: George and Kellie. After a divorce, he married his second wife, and had 1 child: Jenny. Another divorce followed, however, George met and married Sandra Lee (Youcha) in 1996 and gained 2 step children: Michele and Jessica. He remained with Sandy by his side until her death earlier this year.

George was a caring husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was passionate about woodcrafting, horses, hunting, fishing and many other adventurous things. He loved western movies, and once owned his own gold mine. He was an incredibly talented artist and master craftsmen, a general building contractor, and a member of the Freemasons. He was known for his wisecracking wit and wisdom.

He is survived by his children, George Olio Jr. and his wife Lori of Berkshire, Kellie Flanders and her husband Dave of Westfield, Michele Walder and her husband Mike of Altamonte Springs, FL and Jessica Armstrong and her husband Nick also of Altamonte Springs, FL; grandchildren, Joseph, Lawrence, Adam, Madison, Bridgette, Michael, Kristina, Brandon, Ashlynn, Morgan, Charlie, Lily, Joey and Jacob; great grandchildren, Everette, Henry, Chloe, Benjamin and Kian; a sister, Mary Olio; and several nieces, nephews and special friends. In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by his wife, Sandra Lee (Youcha) Olio; and a daughter, Jenny McPartlan.

In respecting George’s wishes, a life celebration will be held privately at the convenience of his family.
