RICHFORD - Gerard J. Paquette, age 85, passed away Tuesday January 2, 2007 after a long illness at the Haven Health Care Facility in St. Albans with his family at his side.
\tHe was born December 9, 1921 in St. Culbert, Quebec Canada the son of the late Mastai & Arselie (Gregoire) Paquette.
\tGerard loved farming, gardening and family gatherings. He owned and operated Paquettes Store (formerly Carmens Store) in East Franklin for several years. He also worked as a carpenters helper with his son, Daniel and finally worked for the Town of Richford for 8 years retiring in 1997.
\tHe loved traveling on Bus Tours and to Arizona by plane. He had also enjoyed the two times he had visited Florida. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Richford.
\tHe is survived by his wife of 60 years, Therese (Laroche) Paquette of Richford; they were married in Highgate Center on June 18, 1946. He is also survived by his 3 sons, Claude Paquette and his wife Viki of Tempe, AZ, Marcel Paquette and his wife Kim of Berkshire, and Daniel Paquette and his wife Carol of Berkshire; 6 daughters, Claudette Garrow of Richford, Rita Garrow and her husband Gordon of Berkshire Ctr., Monica Neveau and her husband Lance of Berkshire Ctr., Lucy Lebeau and her husband Jean-Paul of Stanbridge Est, Quebec, Madeline Wetherby and her husband Donald of Richford, and Florence Doyle and her husband Edward of Richford; 24 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Paul Paquette and his wife Doris of Red Hook, NY; 1 sister, Dorilla Larose of White River Jct.; 1 sister-in-law, Margarite Paquette of Richford; Several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a daughter, Monique Paquette in 1950; a son Jerome Paquette in 1961; a granddaughter, Tonya (Garrow) Beaudry in 2003; 5 brothers, Lucien, Victor, Joseph, John-Louis, and Henri Paquette; 6 sisters, Lucille Coulombe, Jeanne Durenleau, Margaret Vien, Marie Louise Martin, Blanche Lessard, and Marie Couture.
\tFuneral services will be held Friday morning January 5, 2007 at 11:00 AM at All Saints Catholic Church in Richford with Rev. Frank Eksterowicz and Rev. Leonidas Laroche con-celebrating the Mass of Christian burial.
\tVisiting hours will be held Thursday evening from 6-9 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
