Glenn Kalal Jr.

East Fairfield- Glenn J. Kalal Jr, passed away on August 18, 2026, at the age of 86. A resident of East Fairfield since the 1970s, Glenn always told his family in Ohio that it took even more than that to be a "Real Vermonter."

Glenn described himself simply, as an avid reader and a Red Sox fan. He was those things to be sure, but those who loved him knew him as a curious and intelligent person who enjoyed being a bit contrary. Glenn had a wry and subtle sense of humor and he loved both his family and his found family within the community.

He made his career growing with the computer industry (from room-sized machines and programming cards to PCs) following his early years in the Air Force.

Glenn was a much-loved uncle to many -- Katy Massaro (Chris), Jenny Christ (Mike), Rob Mapes (Naomi), Maggie Ecker (Earl), Felicia Bartell, Karla Sayles (Steve), Lauren, Caroline, Vivian, Sage, Julian, Bryan (Vanessa), Robert, Heather, Kelly, Kristen, and Caleb.

He was preceded in death by his parents Glenn and Izora Kalal, and his sister Suzanne Mapes (David).

The family suggests memorial contributions to Bent Northrup Memorial Library in Fairfield, VT where he was a regular.
