BAKERSFIELD - Gyneth L. Smith, a beloved mother, and cherished member of her community, peacefully passed away on December 17, 2023, at the age of 91. Born on March 28, 1932, in Bakersfield, VT, to the late Harry & Alene (Bryce) LaMonda, she spent her life dedicated to her family and the nurturing of others.

Gyneth will be remembered for her unwavering commitment to her loved ones and her heartfelt compassion for the elderly. As a dedicated housekeeper and child care provider, she selflessly cared for those in need, brightening their lives with her warmth and kindness. Gyneth's genuine love for helping others extended beyond her profession, as she often sought out opportunities to assist elderly individuals in her community.

In her earlier years, Gyneth displayed remarkable talent as an accomplished seamstress. She sewed beautiful garments for her family, leaving behind a legacy of love threaded into every stitch. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and in her later years, coloring. She also looked forward to her Saturday night routine of watching Daniel O'Donnell perform on television.

Gyneth's memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She is survived by her children, Norman "Brian" Smith of Bakersfield, Darwin Smith of Bakersfield, Cindy LaFrance and her husband Christopher of Milton, and Joy Paradee and her husband Roy of Bakersfield; her grandchildren, Chad Smith, Christopher Smith, Joshua LaFrance and his wife Amy, Dylan LaFrance and his husband CJ, Caitlin Benoit, and Mallory Benoit; great grandchildren, Alexis, Amelia, Isabella, Rowan, and Sophia; and several nieces & nephews. In addition to her parents, Gyneth was predeceased by her husband, Norman Smith; her siblings, Maurice Bryce and his wife Audria, and Kathleen Lumbra and her husband Arnold "Puffer"; and her sister-in-law, Leona Perry and her husband Lawrence.

In keeping with Gyneth's wishes, her family will be holding a private memorial service and she will be laid to rest with her husband, Norman, in the Egypt Cemetery in East Fairfield.
