Hazel Ledoux

July 11, 1922 — October 8, 2022

SWANTON– Hazel P. Ledoux, age 100, passed away on Saturday October 8, 2022, at the Franklin County Rehab Center in St. Albans.

She was born in Highgate Center on July 11, 1922, to the late Arthur and Mary (Lafrance) Vanslette.

 

Hazel was known for her humble, caring, dedicated, and selfless acts. She would give to anyone and help everyone she could. She cared for her children, grandchildren and many others through foster care and private care over the years of being a homemaker. She married the love of her life, Edmund, on November 20th, 1939. Hazel and Edmund were active members of The Nativity Parish. Due to not being able to receive the education they deserved, they made sure their children received a good education at St. Anne’s. Hazel enjoyed going to the Drive-in to watch movies and taking a ride to the St. Anne’s Shrine. She loved cooking and was known for her cakes, potato salad, and baked beans. Hazel loved to swim and always enjoyed spending time with her family at the Shipyard Bay in Highgate Springs.

 

She is survived by her children, Kraig Ledoux and his wife Kim, Andrea Belrose, Karen Jarvis and companion Ron Cadieux, and Teena Whittier and her husband Duane; daughter in law, Rita Ledoux; grandchildren, Ashley Dore and her husband Lee, Emiley Ledoux and finance Kyle Sheldon, Matthew Whittier, Jenna Whittier Jerry and husband Leon, Thomas Jarvis II and partner Julie Bostwisk, Joel Jarvis and his wife Rachael, Kristen Masse and fiancé John Garrett, Eric Belrose and partner Sara Stone, David Belrose, Jeff Belrose and his wife Kirsten, Jamie Perretta and her husband John, Jennifer Vincent, and Sharon Cook; brother, Victor Vanslette and his wife Charlotte; many great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Besides her parents, Hazel was predeceased by her husband, Edmund Ledoux; three children, James Ledoux, Sharon Ledoux, and Patricia Ledoux; a son-in-law Gary Belrose; and siblings, Frederick, Aldoph, Leonard, Clifford, Eddie, Howard, Mary and Pearl.

 

Family and friends are invited to Hazel’s Life Celebration to include visitation on Wednesday, October 12th from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Goss Life Celebration Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton, VT 05488. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 13th at 10:00AM at The Church of the Nativity, Canada Street, Swanton. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Swanton.
