RICHFORD - Homer H. Combs, Jr., age 75 husband of Nancy (Orcutt) Combs, passed away at his winter Residence of Kingsland, GA. on March 17, 2007.
\tHomer was born January 31, 1932 in Richford the son of the late Homer H. Combs Sr. & Lillian (Deuso) Combs.
\tHomer served with the U.S. Army for 23 years retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant. He was a veteran of the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He received many awards and commendations during his service time with the most notable being the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantryman Badge. Following his retirement from the service he held several jobs including Immigration Officer for 10 years with the U.S. Immigration Service, 6 years as Police Chief for the Town of Richford, and many years with the Franklin County Sheriffs Department. He also served as a Trustee for the Village of Richford.
\tHe held life memberships with the American Legion Post # 12, D.A.V. Jay Peak Chapter #16, and the V.F.W. Charlie Broe Chapter # 11319 all of Richford. Homer enjoyed fishing and sitting on the porch visiting with his family, friends and neighbors.
\tHe is survived by his wife Nancy Combs of Richford, they were married January 1, 1952; his children, David H. Combs of San Jose, CA, Douglas W. Combs and his wife Joyce of Erwin, NC, Brenda Combs of Richford, and Lisa A. Fusco and her husband George of Richford; his grandchildren, Andrew Combs and his wife Rachel of Spartanburg, SC, Christopher Combs and his wife Karen of Spartanburg, SC., Alyssa Soule of Richford, Deanna Fusco of Richford; his great grandchildren, Jameson & Johanna Combs of Spartanburg, SC; his step grandchildren, Kristine Fusco of Richford, Anthony Fusco of West Point, NY, Jason Fusco of Richford, Amber Fusco of Richford, Julie Brown of Dunn, NC, Sara Hobson of Dunn, NC, and Donnie Hamilton of Dunn, NC; his brothers, Carlton Pete Combs and his companion Grace Martin, Steven Combs and his wife Candi; his sister, Yvonne Combs all of Richford; several nieces and nephews; and his loving dog, Mollie.
\tA memorial service will be held Saturday April 14, 2007 at 2:00 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls with Pastor Patrick Hoadley officiating, followed by full military honors. Following the memorial service and military honors at the funeral home, Homers relatives and friends are invited to a gathering at the Dairy Center, Route 105, Enosburg Falls.
