Hugh P. Dudley Sr.

 EAST FAIFIELD – Hugh P. Dudley Sr., age 85, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at his home in East Fairfield.

He was born in West Berkshire on September 8, 1935 to the late Percy & Ethel (Archambault) Dudley.

Hugh grew up in a farm family where he developed a strong work ethic, and the ability to fix and make just about anything. He served in the U.S. Army and later returned to East Fairfield. Hugh worked at Reed’s farm and slaughterhouse for years before becoming a carpenter. Throughout his career he worked for Kenclif Construction, Breadloaf Construction, and Engelberth Construction. Hugh married Lillian (Tinker) on October 18, 1958 and they purchased their first home in 1960. Hugh and Lillian’s home was the gathering spot for all of their grandchildren and great grandchildren. After retirement, Hugh enjoyed spending time with his family, watching Walker Texas Ranger and Family Feud, and working in his shop.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Lillian Dudley of East Fairfield; their children, Norman Dudley and his wife Lourdes of East Fairfield, Terry Dudley and his wife Darcy of Jeffersonville, Naomi Rondeau and her significant other David Lafata of East Fairfield, Hugh “Junior” Dudley Jr. of Berkshire, and Scott Dudley and his wife Heather of Fairfield; 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; his brother, Robert Dudley and his wife Joyce of Bakersfield; his sister, Joyce Mitchell and her husband Howard of East Fairfield; and many nieces & nephews. Besides his parents, Hugh was predeceased by his siblings, Earl Dudley, Marion Rivers, and Florence Kinsley.

Friends and family are invited to Hugh’s Life Celebration at The Goss-Spears Life Celebration Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls, VT on Monday, October 19, 2020 to include visitation from 4-7:00 PM with military honors taking place at the conclusion of visitation.
