Irene Dixon

September 18, 1940 — November 15, 2025

SWANTON - Irene L. Dixon, a lifelong resident of Swanton, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. She was born on September 18, 1940, to Ray and Bernadette (Gagnon) Dubois.

Irene attended St. Anne's Academy, where she enjoyed playing basketball. She often reminisced about her high-scoring game in which St. Anne's defeated their rival, Swanton High.

Irene spent many years working in manufacturing for Wyeth Nutrition. She met the love of her life, Eddie Dixon, when she was just 12 years old, and the two were married on April 23, 1960-a partnership filled with devotion, humor, and deep affection.

Known for her impeccable sense of style, Irene adored fashion and was always dressed to the nines. She loved fine fragrance, sparkling jewelry, and cherished her collection of crystal décor. Her home was her pride, and she maintained it with warmth, grace, and immaculate care.

Irene's love for animals was a defining part of her life. She was a mom to many critters over the years and held a special affection for her rabbits.

With a gentle heart and unwavering dedication, Irene served as a caregiver to both her mother and her husband for many years, offering them comfort, dignity, and unconditional love. Irene's faith was strong; she prayed daily to the Sacred Heart and kept a cherished prayer list of friends and family. If you were on that list, you were truly loved.

Irene will be greatly missed. She is survived by her sister, Lucielle "Tupie" Bernadet; her sister-in-law, Theresa Aylward; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Northern Green Mountain Family Medicine, Apria HealthCare, the nurses and staff of Northwest Medical Center, and Goss Life Celebration Home for their help and support during this difficult time. A special thank-you is extended to her nephew, Timmy Coleman, for his devoted assistance, and to his furry companion, Winnie Poo-Poo, for her daily check-ins with Aunt Irene.

At Irene's request, there will be no public services.
