SWANTON - James Warren Fournier, 64 years of age, passed away at his home on Sunday December 7th, 2025. Jim was born on February 10, 1961, to Warren and Gloria (Brooks) Fournier.
Jim lived all his life as a resident of Swanton, first at his family's home next door the Home Improvement Center on Rte. 78 and later at his "apartment" within the home of his brother Michael and Sister-in-law Teresa. Jim attended St. Annes Catholic school in Swanton, and special education classes at St. Albans elementary and BFA. He made many friends during his time there and spoke of them often. Jim's mom and dad devoted the entirety of their lives to his care. He spent every day surrounded by the love of his family. He loved answering the phones at his Father's shop, singing and listening to Johnny Cash, and sitting out front to watch the large trucks pass by the house on Rte. 78. In the summers he looked forward to days at the camp and fishing with his dad. More than anything Jim loved spending time with his extended family and his many friends. In his later years he enjoyed watching The Andy Griffith show, Gunsmoke and the Wizard of Oz, to name a few.
Jim loved to travel and see new places. He took many road trips with his Father, and later with Michael and Teresa in their motor home. He went to visit his sister in VA and then in TX. He also went many times to see Teresa's family in IN. He especially loved the ability to sit up in front between Mike and Teresa and enjoy the view and all the tractor trailers. For three summers Jim traveled the eastern side of the US. Some of his visits were to Arkansas to see family friends, Dodge City Kansas to visit the Gunsmoke back lot, including the Long Branch Saloon, the Andy Griffith Museum in Mt. Airy, NC, the Spam Museum in MN, the Iowa State Fair and the Wizard of Oz Museum in KS, to name a few. Jim was able to experience so much.
There were many special people in Jim's life, including his Home Health care givers who helped Gloria, and then Mike and Teresa. The family wishes to express their thanks and gratitude to Debbie and Lulu, Kim, Darleen, Sallie, Kathy, Sara, Katie, June, Alan, and to and all of those who lovingly served Jim and his family through the years, including his neurological team at UVM.
Jim was predeceased by his beloved parents, Gloria in 2007 and Warren in 2020, as well as many aunts and uncles and friends.
Jim is survived by his brother Mike Fournier and wife Teresa, and sister Heather Larrabee and her and husband Craig. Niece's and nephew's Sara (Olivia) Fournier-Whyte, Hilary (Cody) Meunier, Claire Larrabee and Warren Paul Larrabee.
