Jeffrey Shover

July 19, 1960 — July 19, 2023

RICHFORD — Jeffrey “Ducky” R. Shover, Sr., age 63, passed away on his 63rd birthday, Wednesday, July 19, 2023 surrounded by his children and closest friends at his home in Richford.

He was born at home in Richford on July 19, 1960 to the late Robert W. & Joyce (Guilmette) Shover.

Jeffrey grew up and attended school in Richford. He then worked for the town of Richford as a building and street maintenance employee. He took great pride in his maintenance work, especially with the Richford town hall bell tower. In addition to his work for the town, Jeffrey provided handyman services to those in need.

Jeffrey married Tammy (Lovelette) on July 10, 1982 and raised their family in Richford. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed riding his motorcycle, camping, hiking, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, bird watching, taking drives to go sight-seeing, chasing waterfalls, and regular trips to visit the “Special Island” in Maine. He loved sharing his favorite road trips, sights and waterfalls with anyone who was interested in going with him. He enjoyed taking photos and sharing them with those close to him. He loved to cook, especially with his wife Tammy before her passing.

Jeffrey had the ability to make friends feel like "family", which was most important to him. He enjoyed having company and all were welcome to go for a ride, watch TV, or just sit and talk with him at his home. He loved spending time with his dog, Patches and would always take him for rides and teach him new tricks. Jeffrey loved his jokes – hearing them, telling them, and coming up with his own! He just loved to laugh. Jeffrey was a “tinkerer” and he loved to use his creativity wether that be “rigging” something to make it work more efficiently, or making hiking sticks, soap stone crafts and carvings, or glass blown pieces. He will be remembered for his engineer type thought processes and his sense of humor.

He is survived by his children, Jeffrey Shover Jr. and his wife Jolene of Berkshire, Savannah Shover and her significant other Patrick Breen of St. Albans, and Danna Shover of Winooski; his grandchildren, Bailey LaFromboise, Myah Fresn, Syrianna Randall, and Tylee, Taygon & Ashlyn Shover; siblings, Suzanne King and her husband Douglas “Butch” of Berkshire, Robyn Vance and her husband George of Swanton, and Garry Shover and his wife Gail of Richford; many nieces & nephews; and his special friends and their families, Dakota Bessette, Eric Bessette, Laura Laplant, Dennis Martin, Deb Chauvin, Emily Chauvin, Amy Chauvin and her children Alexis, Winter “Snowflake”, and Hope, Heidi Chauvin, James Seiferth, Lance Gregoire, Roger LaPlant, Nicole Rheaume, Sophia Rheaume-Laplant and her significant other Stephen Waegner and their children Sky, and Silas, Walter Carpenter, Justin Lambert, Tim Walsh, Myriah Thebarge, Kim Sanborn, Timothy Page, Cathy Morse, Melody Baratt, and the Snides – Chris, Tony & Lee. In addition to his parents, Jeffrey was predeceased by his wife, Tammy Shover; and special friends, Kaitlin Potter, and Jeff “Chauncey” Morse.
