John Chase

On July 23, John Thayer Chase's final moments were spent at home exactly where he wanted to be, surrounded by those that he loved the most.

Always the entrepreneur, John worked many different jobs from a very young age, his drive was always limitless. Selling Christmas trees, delivering milk, and mowing lawns.

He later went on to work for General Electric from 1966-1970 and then did carpentry through 1977.

Learning that working for himself was the direction he wanted to go, John established and became Owner and Operator of "Chase Auto Sales" from 1977 until he retired. He and Noreen then purchased a home in Florida where they enjoyed spending their winters.

John leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Noreen (Williams) Chase and his daughters and their families:

As well as several nieces and nephews and many longtime, special friends that he was fortunate to make over his years of life.

John's family would like to thank those who helped him remain as independent as possible in recent months. You are all true angels and we can never thank you enough for all of the wonderful care that you provided.

While his absence leaves an immeasurable void, his life leaves behind something far greater: a legacy of love, laughter, strength, and devotion to those who were fortunate enough to be a part of it.

John believed the most meaningful moments were not found in grand achievements but rather in the small everyday things like spending time with friends and family, taking a ride, mowing his lawn, fiddlehead picking, trout fishing with his grandsons and playing on his tractor. He never let Parkinson's stop him from doing ANYTHING!

To his family, John was so much more than a husband, father, grandfather. He was the foundation all of them could count on. The memories that he created will be shared at family dinners, small gatherings or a big party, as well as in the quiet moments when his presence is felt most deeply.

John's life reminds us that a persons true measure is not found in the number of years they live, but in the lives that they touch and the love they leave behind.

Have the glass of wine, go out to eat, stay in touch with long time friends, root for the underdog, leave a big tip, always take the free toothpicks, never pay full price, take a ride, be kind, love your family, hug your kids and always tell them you love them, it matters!

John has requested yet another party (Celebration of Life).
