Justin "Scooter" Mashtare

September 7, 1963 — July 16, 2023

Justin Scott "Scooter" Mashtare,

On Sunday July 16, 2023, at the age of 59, following a short illness, Scott went to be with the angels surrounded by his loving family, where he will feel no more pain and will forever be our guardian angel.

Scott was born on September 7, 1963, the son of Millard Mashtare and Glenda "Penny" Mashtare Young.

Scott or "Scooter" as most people called him had a love for life, family, and friends. He would be the first to be there to help if asked. He could never say "No". He will always be remembered for his contagious smile, his love of joking around, and his special looks he made when he thought you were crazy.

Scott had many passions in life, but the three most passionate things for him were his family, volunteer firefighting and working for the VT Agency of Transportation. Scott had a combined total of 40+ years in the fire service, holding many positions throughout those years. Whenever the tones went off, he was there no matter what he was in the middle of or time of day. He was a volunteer with the North Hero Fire Dept, Alburgh Volunteer Fire Dept, and Georgia Volunteer Fire Dept.

Another passion he had was for his job at VTRANS where he has been for the past 20 years. There was no other job he enjoyed or took pride in than taking care of the roads of VT. Whether it was plowing snow for hours on end, mowing roadsides, or just fixing them.

Scott's biggest passion in life was his family, which he loved with his whole being. His family was his prized possession. He would go to the ends of earth for them and there was nothing he wouldn't do for them.

Scott is survived by the love of his life of 18 years, his wife Amy; children, Jodie Frechette & Kenneth, Jenna Richard & Ross, Anna Wyman & Seth, Kole Smith and Cameron Erno; his mother, Glenda "Penny" Mashtare Young; grandson's Logan & Evan Frechette, Keaton Mashtare, and Hudson Wyman; his brother, Fred Mashtare & wife Tanya; in laws, Ernie & Kathy Erno, Kim & David Lane; a very special brother & sister in law, Joseph "Skipper" & Kelly Deyo; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, & cousins.

Scott was predeceased by his son, Keith Mashtare; father, Millard Mashtare; maternal grandparents, Joseph & Grace Ratta; paternal grandparents, Clifford and Jane Mashtare; mother-in-law, Barbara Blair.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his wife, Amy Mashtare, 3071 US RT 2 South, Alburgh, VT 05440 to help with final expenses or in Scott's name to the University of Vermont Cancer Center, 111 Colchester Ave. Main Campus, Main Pavillion, Level 2, Burlington, VT 05401.

Goodbyes are not forever,

Goodbyes are not the end,

They simply mean we'll miss you,

Till we meet again
