Enosburg Falls - Kathryn J. Combs, 81, a resident of the Riverview Apartments in Enosburg Falls passed away, following a brief illness, on Wednesday morning, May 14, 2008 surrounded by her family at the home of her granddaughter in Berkshire.
Kathryn was born in Berkshire on June 23, 1926 the daughter of Craig E. and Marion (Hoben) Ovitt. She grew up in West Enosburg and attended Enosburg schools.
Kathryn was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Enosburg Falls. She enjoyed cooking, camping in Florida, gardening, animals and, especially, birds. Family was very important to Kathryn and she particularly enjoyed her great grandchildren.
Surviving are Kathryns son Jeffrey Combs and his wife Patricia of Richford; her daughter Lesa Ryea and her husband Sonny of Berkshire; a brother Arthur Ovitt and his wife Mary Lou of West Enosburg; grandchildren Jason Combs, Jenny Combs, Liza Murray, Shawn Murray, Anthony Ryea, Melissa Ryea, Desiree Murphy, Matt Murphy, Jeffrey Combs, Jr., Jennifer Combs, Josh Combs and Renata Kane; great grandchildren Bridget Kathryn Combs, Kady Combs, Jason Combs, Jr., Shawn Murray, Jr. Dalton Murray, Mark Ryea, Grace Ryea, Dylon Murphy, Cole Murphy, Ellaina Murphy, Destiny Sheeley, Gabriella Sheeley, Loghan Randall and Maci Randall; nieces, nephews and special friends Shirley Taylor, Bill Curtin and Mary Chalifoux. In addition to her parents, Kathryn was predeceased by her husband Vernal A. Combs who died on December 20, 1993 and her brother Earl Ovitt.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 19 at St. John the Baptist Church in Enosburg Falls where the Liturgy of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Rich ODonnell, Pastor will officiate. Interment will follow in the Combs family lot at the West Enosburg Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the Spears Funeral Home in Enosburg Falls on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
