MONTGOMERY - Kerry Fleckenstein passed away unexpectedly in his home on August 8th, 2023. He was 69 years old. He is survived by his wife Sandy Fleckenstein and his daughter Rhiannon Fleckenstein. He is deeply missed and fondly remembered.
Kerry had a vibrant and inspiring career in music, engineering, and education. Most recently, he worked as a beloved paraprofessional educator at Berkshire School. Before moving to Vermont, Kerry worked at Metropolitan Electric on Long Island as an electrical engineer and switchboard designer. Kerry and Sandy Fleckenstein were married on May 13th, 1983.
Earlier in his life, Kerry immersed himself in classical music, performing in the US and Europe as an orchestral trumpet player. Some of his compositions and recordings can be found on YouTube. Kerry also applied his rich knowledge of music and performance during his tenure as a Music Specialist at a Virginia prison, where he developed a Music Rehabilitation program for inmates.
Moving to Vermont provided Kerry with the opportunity to surround himself with nature - planting trees, growing wildflowers, and taking walks with his family through the woodlands. It was his dream to retire and continue to be a free spirit, enjoying the beauty of his home with his family.
