Leland Snider

MONTGOMERY CENTER - Leland E. Snider, age 94, husband of the late Maude (Demar) Snider, passed away Friday March 23, 2007 at the Haven Health Care Facility in St. Albans.
\tHe was born July 11, 1912 in Lowell, VT the son of the late Harry & Mae (Ducharme) Snider.
\tLeland has been a resident of Montgomery Center since 1931 and was a member of St. Isidores Catholic Church where he was a member of the church choir and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He owned and operated a dairy farm on the Hazen Notch Rd. for 20 years and drove school bus for 51 years retiring in 1993. He was also the Road Commissioner for the town of Montgomery for 7 years. Leland enjoyed working in his sugar woods on the Regan Rd. which he operated from 1975 to 2002 and is still operated today by his grandson, Marty Lumbra. He also operated bull dozer creating many ponds in the area, and logged. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing and most of all spending time with his family with whom he told many stories
\tHe is survived by his children and their spouses, Barbara & Edward Tidd of Westminster, Marion & Dennis Peters of West Dover, Marguerite & Elrick Robtoy of Enosburg, Mildred Gundry of Keene, NH, and Marjorie Sally & Hollis Ryea of Westminster West, Richard & Carol Snider of Nassau, NY, and Douglas & Wanda Snider of East Enosburg; his siblings, Marguerite Warner and her husband Alvin of Lowell, Clifford Snider of Richford, Ralph Snider and his wife Theresa of Montgomery Ctr.; and Eddie Snider and his wife Barbara of Sheldon; 28 Grandchildren including Marty Lumbra of Montgomery who grew up with Leland & Maude; 52 great grandchildren, 27 great great grandchildren; and their families; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Maude (Demar) Snider; a son, Arthur Snider; a grandson, Christopher Snider; 2 brothers Ernest & Raoul Snider; and a sister, Mabel Baraw.
\tA Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday March 28, 2007 at 11:00 at St. Isidores Catholic Church in Montgomery Center. Interment will be held later this spring in the St. Isidores Cemetery in Montgomery Center.
\tVisiting hours will be held Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
