Bakersfield - Leona May Snide, 85, a resident of the East Bakersfield Rd. in Bakersfield died on Monday evening, March 26, 2007 at her home surrounded by her family.
Leona was born in Cambridge, VT on October 30, 1921, the daughter of Nelson R. and Emeroy C. (Gover) Snide. She loved the hills of Bakersfield and worked the family dairy farm there from 1935 until she retired from farming in 1989.
Leona was loved by all she met. She especially enjoyed caring for her many nieces and nephews as well as the love she gave to her great nieces and nephews and cousins. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, growing house plants, gardening and baking for family and friends.
Surviving are Leonas daughter Rosalie Williams of Bakersfield and her husband Clifford of Highgate; 2 granddaughters Terah Williams and Celia Williams both of Bakersfield; 2 great granddaughters Erionah Williams and Alexis Smith both of Bakersfield; 4 sisters Evelyn Mooney of San Diego, CA, Gertrude Turner of Dublin, GA, Joyce Gokey of Bakersfield and Elizabeth Blouin of Newport; nieces, nephews and cousins; her dear friends Maureen Heath of Bakersfield, Ann Shepard of St. Albans and her nurse Lisa Phillips of Montgomery as well as many other loyal and helpful friends. In addition to her parents, Leona was predeceased by a grandson LCpl. Lucas James Williams and her siblings Claire Abair of Winooski, Raymond Snide of Bakersfield, Fred Snide of St. Albans, John Snide of St. Albans, Armand Snide of Bakersfield and Robert Snide of Bakersfield.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 31, 2007 at 11:00 AM
at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls. The Reverend John Nwagbaraocha will officiate. Friends and family are invited to call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service.
