Lori A. Girard

SWANTON – Lori A. (Girard) Pion, age 61, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2021 at the McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester surrounded by her family.  

She was born in St. Albans on December 22, 1959 to the late James and Betty (King) Girard.                               

Lori married Richard P. Pion on May 2, 1992. She worked for over 30 years for the State of Vermont. Her last assignment was working the Vermont State Police Fleet Services. Lori loved her job and provided treats for her boys in the shop and to anyone else who stopped in. She and Rick loved to travel together, they visited Maine and Florida annually. After Ricks death, she found a new road trip partner, Pam Vanselette. Lori loved all who she came in contact with and will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her brother, Timothy Girard and his wife Kathy of Swanton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Carol Pion and her life partner Steven Martell of St. Albans Bay, Susan Daignault and her husband Kevin of Swanton, Rayo (Joe) Pion and his wife Sharon of St. Albans Town, Michael Pion and his wife Diane of St. Albans Town, and Mary Mossey and her husband Brian of Fairfax; her very special canine companion, Wesley; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Lori was predeceased by her husband, Richard “Rick” Pion on February 12, 2014; and her nephew, William Girard.

Family and friends are invited to Lori’s Life Celebration events to include visitation on Saturday, June 26, 2021 from 1-2:00 PM with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 PM at the Goss Life Celebration Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton, VT 05488.

Lori’s family would like to thank the staff at the McClure Miller Respite House for the immeasurable care and compassion they gave Lori during her stay. She was “treated like a queen!”
