Madeleine Joan Lafar

Highgate - Madeleine J. Lafar, age 85, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at her home in Highgate.

She was born July 3,1941, in Clarenceville Quebec to the late Arthur Loyer and Laura Shedrick Loyer.

Madeleine attended school in Clarenceville Quebec. She met her beloved husband Richard Lafar at a cousin's home. He served overseas in the Army in Germany. They were married August 17,1963.

Richard predeceased her in 1998.

Madeleine was a devoted homemaker Mother and Grandmother.

Her family remembers her great joy in peacocks, saturday garage sales with her sisters, chocolate covered peanuts, pink carnations and will be well remembered for the best turkey and homemade dressing!

She is survived by her children son and daughter in law Richard "Buck" and Laurie Lafar, son David Lafar, daughter Melissa Lafar, and daughter and son in law Crystal and Joseph Greenia; several grandchildren, several great grandchildren and her siblings, sister Evelyn and her husband George Martin, her sister Annie Vosburgh. and several nieces & nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Madeleine was predeceased by her brothers Albert, Richard and Arthur "Sonny", Andrew and Wilford Loyer and her sisters Eliza Bouchard, Doreen Chaffee, Blanche Loyer and her good friend Peggy Cracker.

Services are private.
