Marc Poissant

January 14, 1931 — February 19, 2024

ENOSBURG FALLS - Marc Poissant, age 93, passed away on Monday, February 19th, 2024 at the Brownway Residence in Enosburg Falls.

Marc was born on January 14, 1931 to Anthony and Ordelia (Lavender) Poissant.

Marc married the love of his life Joyce Ann Johnson on September 7,1951. He served his country during the Korean war and was stationed, accompanied by his wife, in Germany and England. After his service in the Air Force, Marc worked at several different jobs in several different places. Marc and Joyce settled in Swanton in 1961 where he began his career as a Prudential Insurance agent. Marc worked long hours at Prudential but still made time for his family. Some nights he wouldn't get home until 7:00 or 8:00. While trying to eat dinner his little birds, as he called us, would gather around with mouths open waiting for him to share, of course he did. Marc was a family man and loved spending time surrounded by his family, especially the grand children and great grandchildren.

Marc loved fishing and spent a lot of time baiting hooks, removing fish and untangling lines when fishing with his children. Summers Dad took us to spend a week at camp on lake Carmi. Weekend afternoons were for long drives and picnic lunches either some stop along the way or our lakeside property in West Swanton. He enjoyed deer season with Danny and others. His personal passion, other than Joyce and family, was golf. He played up to 91 years of age and loved the game, loved the people and spent many hours with Dan sharing their love of the game. Winter weekends consisted of jigsaw puzzles and dancing in the living room.

Marc taught Sunday School classes at Holy Trinity for many years and after retirement, spent many hours doing what he could for his second family at Holy Trinity Church. He also enjoyed wood working spending many hours in the basement making planters for Joyce. He made mangers for his children and taught his grandchildren about the craft. He enjoyed cooking and sharing the bounty with his neighbors at Village Green.

Marc loved people and conversation. These qualities served him well in his career. Almost anywhere he would go there would be someone he knew. For Marc a quick errand would usually take an hour or more.

Marc is survived by his children, daughter, Rachel Nieberding and her partner Brian Mizzi of Guyton, GA, son Danny Poissant and his partner Manon Klaszky of Lady Lake, FL and daughter, Julie Bransfield and her husband Delano of Franklin , VT; grandchildren: Keri, Kourtney, Jarrod, Danielle, Jessie, Anthony, Meghan, Jordan, Joshua, Alex and Taylor, also his step-grandson Thomas Wagner and his wife Karla and step-grandson Adam Wagner; 18 great grandchildren, and 3 step great grandchildren; sister, Ruth Babbie and her husband David, sisters -in -law, Beverly Poissant and Marlene Lumbra; and several nieces and nephews.

Marc was predeceased by his wife Joyce, parents Anthony and Ordelia Poissant. His sister Rachel Poissant and brother Maurice Poissant, brother in-law Douglas Lumbra, and grandsons Danny and Jeremy Poissant.
