NORTH HERO - Margaret “Carolyn” Cheeseman, age 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 16, 2022 at the St. Johnsbury Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Bedford, Quebec on September 26, 1936 to the late William Roy & Jennie (Haworth) Wightman.
Carolyn was born and raised in Bedford, Quebec, where she met and married the love of her life, Paul Cheeseman on November 10, 1956, and started their family. She attended the Texas College of Arts and Industries earning her bachelor’s degree. Carolyn taught in North Hero and eventually at Missisquoi Valley Union High School, where she retired from. She and Paul enjoyed traveling the world together, from Hawaii to Scotland, and lots of countries in between. Carolyn was a strong disciplinarian that loved to share her firm opinions and childhood stories. She enjoyed genealogy, crocheting, knitting, sewing, and bird watching- including chasing chickens in her childhood. She had a special love for animals, especially Siamese cats that she raised, Sheltie dogs, and her daughter’s riding horses. She was a talented musician, fluently playing the piano and organ. Carolyn was a proud member of The Eastern Star and of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was extremely proud of her ancestry and heritage.
She is survived by her son, Malcolm Cheeseman and his wife Rose of North Hero; daughters, Susan McDonald and her husband Jonathan of Georgia, Sherry Siebenaler and her husband Roger of North Hero, and Jennie Isaacson of St. Albans; grandchildren, Emily McDonald, Molly McDonald, Justin McDonald, Ian McDonald, Aaron Cheeseman, Dallin Isaacson, Lorna Isaacson, and Langdon Isaacson; her siblings, Jeannie Yach and her husband Mel, Beverly Allen and her husband Donald, and Darryl Wightman; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Carolyn was predeceased by her husband, Paul in 2020; and her brother, George Gary Wightman.
Family and friends are invited to Carolyn’s Life Celebration events to include visitation on Thursday, September 22, 2022 from 10-11:00 AM at the Goss Life Celebration Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton, VT.
Interment will immediately follow in the Hazen West View Cemetery, West Shore Road, North Hero.
