MONTGOMERY - Marilyn L. Baker, age 85, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at The Villa in St. Albans.
She was born December 29, 1939 in Morrisville to the late Chester & Lucy (Gauthrie) Gokey.
Marilyn was known for her extreme love and dedication to her family and friends, and the strength to pull through many obstacles in life. Professionally, Marilyn contributed to many local businesses including the Montgomery Toy Factory, Jay Peak, IBM, and as a school cook at Montgomery Elementary School, retiring in 2005. She was known for her delicious holiday meals, and her homemade spaghetti sauce, where family would gather to enjoy.
She always looked forward to spending Christmas day with family in the home she grew up in. After the passing of her parents her niece Tonya, who now resides in the family home, took over the tradition of hosting the Christmas get together. Marilyn and Tonya also shared the same birthday. Marilyn was deeply loved by family and friends and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her children, Robin Pelkey and her husband John, Scott Baker and his wife Lisa, Tina Baker and her partner Archie Cota, and Douglas Baker; grandchildren, Cyndee Agim and her husband KC, Laci Baker, Jordan Cota and his wife Brooke, Jade Cota and her fiancé Matt, Shane Germain, Tasha Baker, Dylan Baker, and Jacob Baker and his partner Hailee; great grandchildren, Ariella Chambers, Uriel Agim, Adriel Agim, Grace Cota, Cassidy Cota, and Emmett Baker; sisters, Wanda Reed, and Bonnie Donna and her husband Kevin; siblings-in-law, Rose Johnson, and Robert Baker and his wife Aline; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews. In addition to her parents, Marilyn was predeceased by her husband, Roland Baker; twin brother, Marlin Raymo and his wife Virginia; in-laws, Fred & Lydia Baker; brothers-in-law, Willard Johnson, and Darrell Reed; and a great nephew, Evan Donna.
Marilyn's family would like to thank the staff from The Villa for the great care she received. Also, for the kindness, hugs, and words of encouragement offered to the family at the time of her passing.
A celebration of Marilyn's life will be held in the spring of 2026 at Hill West Cemetery in Montgomery.
