BAKERSFIELD - Marlene L. Williams, age 86, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.
She was born in Enosburg Falls on August 18, 1938 to the late Harry & Mattie (Putnam) Lacross.
Marlene was known for her unwavering dedication as a cook at the Dairy Center, where she served with passion and pride for many years. She also worked at the Bakersfield General Store for many years. In her lifetime, Marlene found joy in the simplest of pleasures. Whether it was embarking on scenic rides to Pittsburgh, NH in search of moose or admiring the vibrant hues of autumn leaves, she always savored the beauty of nature that surrounded her. She also loved birdwatching, playing bingo, and lawn saling. Marlene was an active member of the community and served as a 4-H leader for several years and was a member of the Bakersfield Fire Department Auxiliary.
She is survived by her children, Clifford Williams and his wife Angela, Clarence Williams and his wife Josephine, Joann Reed and her husband Kevin, and Brenda Williams; grandchildren, Terah Williams, Celia Williams, Duncan Williams, Robert Williams, Benjamin Williams, Heather Reed, Rayburn Reed, and Melinda Bean-Goucher and her husband Dan; 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; brothers, Ivan Lacross, and Cecile Lacross and his wife Frances; and many nieces & nephews. In addition to her parents, Marlene was predeceased by her husband, William Williams Sr.; son, William Williams Jr.; grandson, Lucas Williams; son-in-law, Bucky Bean; siblings, Gardner Lacross, Reginald Lacross, Dorothy Gerrow, and Mary Bapp; and her partner, Clarence "Jim" Young.
Marlene's family would like to thank the staff from Franklin County Rehab and Northwestern Medical Center for the exceptional care she received.
Friends & family are invited to Marlene's life celebration on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 to include visitation from 10-11:00 AM followed with a memorial service at 11:00 AM at the Goss-Spears Life Celebration Home, 96 Dickinson Avenue, Enosburg Falls, VT. Interment will follow in the West Enosburgh Cemetery.
