Mary Larivee

July 26, 1936 — December 22, 2025

ENOSBURG FALLS - Mary Larivee, age 89, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025 at St. Albans Health & Rehab.

Mary was born on July 26, 1936, the daughter of the late Albert & Ada (Fontaine) Duranleau.

A proud graduate of Richford High School, Mary was known for her tenacity and work ethic. She dedicated many years of her life to farming, nurturing the land with the same care that she extended to family and friends. Her passion for hands-on work eventually led her to a successful career in manufacturing, where she contributed her talents at both the Montgomery School House and Vermont Precision Tools.

In her later years, after retiring, Mary embraced a role she cherished dearly: caring for her grandchildren, creating a nurturing home filled with love and laughter until they were ready for school. This time in her life was marked by joy and fulfillment, as she instilled in them the same values of hard work, kindness, and adventure that guided her throughout her journey.

Though she led a quiet life, Mary found joy in traveling, particularly to the picturesque Amish Country in Pennsylvania. Her spirit danced to the rhythms of country music-especially the iconic sounds of Johnny Cash and Elvis-and her laughter filled the air when she gathered with friends to play Bingo. Mary also cherished peaceful evenings spent watching country westerns, completing crossword puzzles, and cheering for her beloved Boston Bruins.

She is survived by her daughters, Laurie Larivee and her significant other Edward Croft, and Michele Plouff and her husband Alan; grandchildren, Lauren Lumbra and her husband Jayson, and Logan Plouff; and several friends in the community. Mary was predeceased by her parents, Albert & Ada Duranleau; and her siblings, Loren, and Yvonne.

A graveside memorial service will be held in the spring in Richford Center Cemetery.

For those who wish, contributions in Mary's memory may be made to Franklin County Animal Rescue, 30 Sunset Meadows, St. Albans, VT 05478.
