SWANTON– Maxine R. Rice, age 88, passed away on Friday, January 6th, 2023, at the St. Albans Health & Rehab Center with her family by her side.
She was born in Northwood, ND on September 18, 1934, to the late Chester and Evelyn (Gratton) Johnson.
Maxine graduated from Logan Center High School in 1952. She worked as a Medical Records specialist and Administrator for Northwestern Medical Center for many years. She loved to read, do puzzles, play Wii bowling and always watch her favorite show, The Young and the Restless. She was sweet, kind, giving and always compassionate to her family and friends around her. Maxine also enjoyed watching her favorite Green Bay Packers on Sunday afternoons.
Maxine is survived by her children, Bonnie Gulu, Cynthia Gagne and her husband Daniel, Tim Johnson, Ken Rice and his wife Nancy, Carmen Hartigan and her husband David Magoon, Sheryl Dashno, and Brian Johnson; grandchildren, Natalie Gulu-Kerchofer and her husband Jared, James Gagne and his wife Rebecca, Jeremy Gagne, Eric Gagne and his wife Samantha, Ben Gagne, Anne Vogele and her husband Brendan, Kelly Jackson and her fiancé Rodney Hemmingson, Mikayla Creighton and her husband Connor, Brandi Palchak, Christopher Hartigan and his partner Autumn Lawyer, Logan O’Hartigan and his wife Stephanie, Brooke Hartigan and her fiancé Noah Cueto, Amanda Giroux and her husband Jonathan, Emmitt Dashno and his wife Valerie, and Abby Johnson; sister, Marjorie Anderson and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Besides her parents, Maxine was predeceased by her brother, Curtis Johnson; son-in-law, Nick Gulu; daughter-in-law, Mary Jackson, and grandson Barry Rice.
Friends and family are invited to Maxine’s Life Celebration to include visitation on Thursday, January 12th, 2023, from 4:00-6:00PM, at the Goss Life Celebration Home, 89 Grand Avenue Swanton VT 05488.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
