Michael Edward Breen

Michael Edward Breen, born April 19, 1940 passed away at home on 2/3/2022, after a long battle with Dementia.  He was the son of Michael J Breen and Maureen Costello.  He is survived by Pauline his wife of 61 years, and 3 sons, Michael of Seal Beach, CA, Steven of Long Beach, CA, Marc and Toni Breen and Two grandchildren Olympia and Maximus Breen of Albuquerque, N M.  His Aunt Gerry Costello in Waterbury, CT and many nieces and nephews, 

Mike had been a resident of Leisure World for 15 years; he was active in many clubs, Y’s Service, Golf League, Karaoke, and Chorale.  Some of his happiest times were at Karaoke and being in the Chorale shows as his grandchildren danced along.   

Mike was a true Red Sox fan and a fan of all sports.

Mike spent many years here in CT and in CA, working as a coach, umpire, referee and judge for softball, basketball and diving matches.  When there weren’t enough people to provide his 3 sons Little League or Flag Football to play, he became the commissioner, and a coach, and stayed long after his boys had grown up.

He moved to Leisure World after growing up in Waterbury, CT and raising his family nearby in Thomaston, CT.  After moving to CA, he was happiest about never having to shovel snow ever again.

After a lifetime helping others, Mike is at rest and cheering us along and of course the Red Sox.

Services were held on March 25^th at Leisure World, Seal Beach, CA. 

Burial will be in a family plot in St. George Cemetery in Bakersfield, VT on June 18^th, 2022 at 10:30AM. There will be a reception to follow on June 18^th at 12 noon at Bakersfield Country Club, 7595 Boston Post Rd, Enosburg Falls, VT 05450. Friends and Family are welcome.

There will also be a service in Thomaston, CT at St. Thomas Church were Mike and his family worshipped for many years. The mass will be held on July 24^th at 10 am.  It will stream live at www.stmkp.org and on Facebook, http://m.facebook.com/STMKP/.  While the immediate family will not be present, we welcome Mike’s fellow neighbors and friends from Thomaston and the surrounding area to come and celebrate his life.
