SWANTON - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Connor, beloved husband, father, and friend, who left this world unexpectedly on January 30, 2026, at the age of 63 from complications following his stroke in April 2025. Michael was born on March 18, 1962, and spent his early years as a farm boy, which instilled in him a love for the great outdoors.
A true nature lover, Michael cherished time spent in the woods, especially his beloved hunting grounds in Fairfield. His passion for the outdoors extended to ice fishing in the winter months and nurturing his beautiful flower gardens. Many cherished memories were made on warm summer nights, on his back deck looking out over his yard.
Michael was known for his loving, kind, and considerate nature, always ready with a hearty laugh or a playful joke at the expense of his friends and family-his stubborn side occasionally adding to the warmth of his character. Known as Gramps, his spirit lives on in the hearts of his grandchildren, to whom he taught the importance of family, hard work, and a good sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his wife, Christine Connor; children, William Thompson III and his wife Sarah, and Edward Thompson; grandchildren, Brynn, Eloise, William IV, Adeline, Evan, Rian, Rori and Leo; siblings, Jeanne Persons and her husband Frank, Patty Slagle and her husband Steve, and Nancy Connor; nieces and nephews, David, Eric, Amy and their families; brother-in-law, John Holt and his wife Lorrie and their family. Michael was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Reda Connor, and in-laws, Edward and Sally Holt.
Friends and family will be invited to Michael's life celebration to include a visitation on Thursday, February 5th, 2026 from 4-6:00PM at the Goss Life Celebration Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton, VT 05488.
The family would like to thank Dr. Von Lepel, Fanny Allen, and the therapists for all the care and support Michael received from them.
