Nancy Ward

April 27, 1953 — May 27, 2023

FRANKLIN - Nancy "Nance" C. Ward, age 70, was born April 27, 1953 in Troy, NY to the late Harry Eugene and Janice Carol (Holden) Ward. Nancy was a beloved mother, sister, aunt and friend. On May 27, 2023 she passed away peacefully in her sleep.

At a young age, Nancy moved with her family to New Middletown, Ohio where she graduated in 1971 from Springfield Local High School. She often served as a Church Camp Counselor throughout Ohio and was the

4-H leader for a few years for a group in Mahoning County, Ohio. Upon graduating high school, she attended Cosmetology School and enjoyed cutting hair for so many people at the Southern Park Mall. Later she chose to attend SUNY Freedonia College, where she studied, calculus and physics to earn her Bachelor's Degree and High School Teaching Certification. In 1979 she graduated from SUNY and joined what she considered her second family at Missisquoi Valley Union High School. She referred to all the students she had the pleasure of teaching as "my kids." She remained at MVU until retirement.

After retirement she enjoyed delivering meals to the shut-ins until she herself became a shut-in. Crocheting, knitting and cross stitch were activities she always enjoyed and her crafts can be found in many homes. She also loved to bake and could be found on many nights in front of her oven.

Nancy leaves behind a son, Judah Ward of Swanton, Vermont, a brother Raymond (Joanne) Ward of Chickasha, Oklahoma, a brother Alan (Debby) Ward of Valencia, Pennsylvania and a close family friend she always referred to as her sister, Virginia Greco of Hopewell Junction, New York. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews in Ohio, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Indiana and Oklahoma. Although she never got to meet some of them, she loved them all the same. Through social media she was able to watch them grow and experience life, to graduate, to marry, to have children of their own and then to watch those next generation children grow. Nancy was preceded in death by not only her parents but also her brother Jerry Ward of Youngstown, Ohio and a sister Carolyn Kelpine of Paducah, Kentucky.

The family will have a celebration of life at a later date.
