HIGHGATE - Norma Gene Benjamin (Gleason), age 92, passed away on Sunday, September 1st, surrounded by her loving family.

Norma was born on July 28, 1932 in St. Albans to Ralph and Eleanor (Pierce) Maynard.

Norma was a graduate of Brigham Academy in 1951 and went on to work at Henry's Diner and Solomon's Dry Cleaners. She also pursued her passion for cosmetology, studying in Burlington, although she never opened her own shop. Norma married Martin H. Gleason Jr. on March 24, 1956. After starting her family, Norma dedicated her life to being a devoted homemaker. Martin predeceased her on February 26, 1990. In her free time, she indulged in quilting and embroidery for over 30 years, showcasing her creativity and talent. Norma found joy in playing bingo, engaging in card games like 500, and tending to her gardens. Norma married Maurice H. Benjamin on June 26, 1993, he predeceased her on December 23, 2002. Norma was known for her kind and giving nature, and she was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Norma is survived by her children, Paul Gleason and his wife Debbie of Fairfax, Carl Gleason of Fairfield, Ruth Gleason and her partner Antony Maskell of Highgate, and Margo Wiggin and her husband Scott; step-daughters, Linda Sacco and her partner George Bisbikos, Carol Mesler and her husband Thomas of Sunrise, FL; grandchildren, Paul Gleason and his wife Janice of St. Albans, Joshua Gleason and his wife Brandie of St. Albans, Benjamin Gleason, Thomas Gleason and his wife Amanda of Fairfield, Ashley Brown and her husband Charlie of St. Albans, Dennis Sacco, Michael Mesler, Sheri Grant and her husband Randy; great grandchildren, Arianna, Samantha, Isabelle, Owen, Obree, Evan, Tyler, Jaze and Evelyn; siblings, Martha Hyne, Leon (Dickey) Maynard and his wife Shirley, and Frank (Bill) Maynard and his wife Carole.

Norma was predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Eleanor Maynard; daughter-in-law, Evelyn Gleason; sister, Marilyn Partirdge and her husband George; brother-in-law, John Hyne; step-granddaughter, Jennifer Lichty.

In respecting Norma's wishes, there will be no public services for her.
